Our young family Kava farmers started off 2018 by gaining a valuable lesson in hard work. There were plenty of weeds to tend too after a solid month of rainy weather.
Above: Young Kava plants are constantly in competition with weeds for growth space. Routine weeding is required for the 1-2 years of Kava growth.
Above: Poly cropping with Taro enriches the soil and reduces the amount of weeding required. Our Kava farm will look more like a Taro farm until our plants grow bigger and the Taro is harvested.
